Modern Computer and Its Features

There has been a debate as to when or who really invented the very first computer. The answer would be so vague that it truly depends on the person whom to relay the question to. Historians may refer to abacus as the very first computer invented and used by human. This was discovered around 5000 years ago in Asia.

The very first computer with modern use was discovered during the Second World War. This was when a group of engineers and scientist came up with a digital calculator that was originally named Electronic Numerator, Integrator, Analyzer, and Computer at the University of Pennsylvania.

This electronic device has a number of vacuum tubes-18,000 to be exact. The main feature of first invented computer was its capability to sum ten-digit decimal up to 5,000 in just one second. It has a total number of 1,500 crystal diodes. It also had approximately 10,000 capacitors and the parts are fixed with 5 million soldered joints. It was extremely heavy and weighed thirty tons and run over 150 kilowatts of power.

It functioned for a short time after the tube failed to run during the period of shifting temperature. The first invented computer was also able to function better when the engineers and scientists let the computer on for a long time. The tube failure reduced considerably and the rate even improved.

The interesting feature of first invented computer- Electronic Numerator, Integrator, Analyzer, and Computer was its capability of being reprogrammed. This allowed this electronic tool ton also resolve computing problems. It was even used for some government missions and research. At that time, this computing device was considered as an extremely advanced tool that was incomparable to the existing revolutionary calculators. The drawback however is its incapability of storing information which challenged the existing scientists then.
